Wister award

The John C. Wister Award is named in honor of the American Iris Society's first President, John C. Wister (1887-1982). Mr. Wister served the iris society as President for fourteen years and was instrumental in its formation. Each year, the AIS (American Iris Society) judges vote for three tall bearded irises to share the coveted Wister Award.
